4. Do you do any projects that don't involve kumiko?

Yes! Although I love making kumiko and think it's very beautiful, I understand that it doesn't belong in every project. I've made dozens of projects in the past including furniture and home decor items.

5. Do you do collabs?

I love collaborating with other makers and artists! Send me an email (johnny@jtwood.works) with your ideas and let's make something cool together.

6. Do you make custom kumiko artwork?

Yes! Send me an email (johnny@jtwood.works) with your ideas and we can work through all the details of your custom piece.

7. Can you make custom products for me?

I occasianly offer limited runs of various products like kumiko jigs and strips made from different species of wood. Feel free to reach out if you'd like something specific.

8. What tools do you recommend to get started in kumiko?

One of the nice things about kumiko is that you don't need many tools to get started. The main tools you need are a Japanese pull saw and a sharp chisel. You'll also need Kumiko Jigs to cut pieces with precise angles. As far as making jigumi (the gridwork for kumiko) you can use a Kumiko Table Saw Sled or you can cut the joints by hand.
